Children Of Everest (COE) was founded by 3 friends who met at United World College in India, at UWC they were presented with multiple challenges with how to improve impoverished communities in the area and though they each pursued different fields. The challenges of social inequality presented before them was never more than a though away. No matter how they would slice the issue, the solution always came down to one word: Education.
Reaching impoverished children early and providing them with a quality education, similar to what most children from urban, higher socioeconomic backgrounds have access to, would give these children the tools that they need to succeed in an increasingly competitive world.
We currently work in three communities in Tanahun Province and educate approximately 450 students. Our two primary schools are located in Pokhari Bhanjyang and Keshavtar and collectively have eight employees and 200 students. Our secondary school, and first branch is located in Udhin Dhunga, has 30 employees and provides education for 250 students.
One of the strongest commonents to education we believe is access to and the ability to express oneself through art in all its forms. We believe a person’s true potential can only be reached through the freedom of expression and the lack of gravitas given to the arts in many communities leads to the stifling of children’s potential.
Now that we had identified a means to help rural communities the challenge became how we bring a model of education to the children of these communities that would allow them to flourish. This is where Maya Universe Academy in Nepal comes into play. Founded by a group of social entrepreneurs and helmed by Manjil Rana the school was poised to challenge the education system in Nepal.
The global pandemic has caused major disruptions to our operating model. As for most people around the world, it has been a hard year for the students, as they have had to say farewell to many of their teachers as volunteers have had to return to their various home countries. The rural location and socioeconomic factors have made remote learning extremely limited and challenging.
However, along with our ideals we are well aware that financial funding is required to continue to evolve and grow our pledge to help provide quality education to rural Nepal and hopefully grow to be able to support children across the world. To help make this dream a reality we require your donations that will go helping improve the lives and growth of these children!
Through COE we want to help empower the dreams of children and provide them the best possible opportunities. To help make this dream a reality we require your donations that will go towards helping improve the lives and growth of these children!
